Cool photo that I did not take.
About two weeks ago I was hired by Portland writer Shawn Levy to take some head shots of him for his new book Paul Newman: A Life. Yesterday Shawn sent me a PDF of the book jacket and it looks quite sharp. Above is a photo I took of Mr. Levy, although this is not the image he is using in the book, it was taken that same day. To be the first to view the head shot I took, you can pre-order his book on Amazon.com

Today I did some test shots of the MHCC Jazz Band in action. If you ever get a chance to check this group out, do it, they sound great! Make sure to click on the Web Gallery to see the images I got today. I converted the photos to black and white because that is how they are going to be printed in the concert program.

I thought this was a great editorial shot I got yesterday.
The Friends of Trees planted over 200 trees in the Boise, Eliot, Humboldt, King, Piedmont, and Sabin Neighborhood’s yesterday. The morning started off at 9am with snow flurry’s while drinking coffee and eating bagels at the Friends of Trees HQ on MLK.
I was in Group O and we planted 12 trees.
Around 1pm when all the groups were finished planting everyone was treated to pizza, sandwiches, soup and a fresh keg of local micro brew from the Widmer Brewery.

Here is a shot I got today at the Friends Of Trees event. Good times were had by all. I will post more about this later, but thought I would share this image with you all.

This past week I assisted as a light tech on two jobs and had a shoot of my own. Here is a shot I got of Portland writer Shawn Levy.
Lately I have been admiring the photography work of Pete Springer. The thing that attracts me to his images is the way he uses light, specifically the spot where the main light source originates from and hits the subject. This is normally from behind and creates a nice rim of light around the head sometimes blowing out one side of the subject. This was my goal on this shot of Mr. Levy.

I just got back into town after doing some assistant work on the set with Portland photographer Michael Halle. Michael is currently doing a photo documentation of locals out in Tygh Valley, Oregon. This was a shot I got of Michael hard at work with a lifelong farmer in the city of Wamic, OR.
